Ford Fusion: Roof Opening Panel / Roof Opening Panel Motor. Removal and Installation

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

1. On both sides, remove the A-pillar trim panel.
   Refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
   

1. On both sides, remove the B-pillar trim panel.
   Refer to: B-Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
   

1. On both sides, remove the C-pillar upper trim panel.
   Refer to: C-Pillar Upper Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
   

1. Position both front seats in the full forward and full reclined position.
   

1. If equipped.
   
   1. Release the upper rear view mirror cover clips by squeezing on the sides.
      
   2. Remove the upper rear view mirror cover.
      

1. If equipped.
   
   1. Release the lower rear view mirror cover clips.
      
   2. Remove the lower rear view mirror cover.
      

1. If equipped.
   Disconnect the rear view mirror electrical connectors.
   

1. On both sides.
   Remove the sun visors.
   
   1. Remove the retainer cap.
      
   2. Release the clip.
      
   3. Remove the sun visor.
      
   4. If equipped.
      Disconnect the electrical connector.
      

1. On both sides.
   Remove the retainer and the sun visor clip.
   

1. NOTE: LH side shown, RH side similar.

   On both sides.
   Remove the retainer covers, the retainers and the grab handle.
   

1. NOTE: Disconnect as necessary to lower the headliner.

   On both sides.
   Detach the wire harness retainers.
   

1. NOTICE: When releasing the magnets around the roof opening panel area, pull down on the plastic headliner reinforcement between the headliner and the roof or damage to the headliner may result.

   Release the seven magnets and two guide pins and magnets.
   

1. Disconnect the roof opening panel motor electrical connector, remove the roof opening panel motor retainers and remove the roof opening panel motor.
   Torque: 35 lb.in (4 Nm)

Installation

1. NOTE: When installing the roof opening panel motor, it may be necessary to turn the roof opening panel motor slightly to engage the drive splines.

   To install, reverse the removal procedure.
   

1. Initialize the roof opening panel.
   Refer to: Power Roof Opening Panel Initialization (501-17 Roof Opening Panel, General Procedures).
