Ford Fusion: Transmission Cooling - 6-Speed Automatic Transmission – 6F35 / Transmission Fluid Cooler - 1.5L EcoBoost (118kW/160PS) – I4/2.5L Duratec (110kW/150PS). Removal and Installation

Removal

1. With the vehicle in N, position it on a hoist.
   Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).
   

1. Remove the air cleaner.
   Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12A Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 1.5L EcoBoost (118kW/160PS) – I4, Removal and Installation).
   Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12C Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS), Removal and Installation).
   

1. Remove the retainers and the engine undershield.
   

1. Drain the cooling system.
   Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding (303-03A Engine Cooling - 1.5L EcoBoost (118kW/160PS) – I4, General Procedures).
   Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding (303-03C Engine Cooling - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS), General Procedures).
   

1. Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube secondary latches.
   

1. NOTE: Use suitable paper to absorb any escaping fluid.

   Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes.
   

1. Release the clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses.
   

1. Remove the bolt and the transmission fluid cooler.
   

Installation

1. Install the transmission fluid cooler and the bolt.
   Torque: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)

1. Connect the transmission fluid auxiliary cooler tubes.
   

1. Install the transmission fluid auxiliary cooler tube secondary latches.
   

1. Attach the coolant hoses and position the clamps.
   

1. Install the engine undershield and the retainers.
   

1. Install the air cleaner.

1. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
   Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding (303-03A Engine Cooling - 1.5L EcoBoost (118kW/160PS) – I4, General Procedures).
   Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding (303-03C Engine Cooling - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS), General Procedures).
   

1. Check the transmission fluid level and adjust as necessary.
   Refer to: Transmission Fluid Level Check (307-01A Automatic Transmission - 6-Speed Automatic Transmission – 6F35, General Procedures).
