Ford Fusion: Transmission Cooling - 6-Speed Automatic Transmission – 6F35 / Cooler Bypass Valve - 1.5L EcoBoost (110kW/150PS) – I4. Removal and Installation
Removal
-
Remove the air cleaner.
Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12A Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 1.5L EcoBoost (118kW/160PS) – I4, Removal and Installation).

Detach the wiring harness retainers from the cooler bypass valve bracket.

NOTE:
Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Completely loosen the cooler bypass valve tube fittings.

Remove the nuts and the cooler bypass valve.
Installation
-
NOTE:
Leaving the cooler bypass valve nuts loose will ease
installation of the transmission fluid cooler tube fittings.
Install the cooler bypass valve and the nuts.
Torque:
80 lb.in (9 Nm)

NOTE:
Leave the transmission fluid cooler tube fittings
loose until after final tighten of the cooler bypass valve nuts.
Connect the transmission fluid cooler tubes to the cooler bypass valve and tighten the fittings.
Torque:
16 lb.ft (22 Nm)

Install the air cleaner.
Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12A Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 1.5L EcoBoost (118kW/160PS) – I4, Removal and Installation).

Check the transmission fluid level and adjust as necessary.
Refer to: Transmission Fluid Level Check (307-01A Automatic Transmission - 6-Speed Automatic Transmission – 6F35, General Procedures).

a plastic scraping tool to clean the gasket sealing surfaces.
