Tie Rod End Remover

Removal

NOTICE: Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect the performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.

  1. Remove the front wheel bearing and wheel hub.
    Refer to: Front Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub (204-01 Front Suspension, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the wheel speed sensor bolt and position the wheel speed sensor aside.

  1. Remove the brake disc shield retainers and the brake disc shield.

  1. Remove and discard the tie rod end nut and separate the tie rod end from the wheel knuckle.

  1. Remove and discard the front strut and spring assembly-to-wheel knuckle bolts and nuts and remove the wheel knuckle.

Installation

  1. Install the wheel knuckle and install the new front strut and spring assembly-to-wheel knuckle bolts and nuts.
    Torque: 173 lb.ft (235 Nm)

  1. Attach the tie rod end to the wheel knuckle and install the new tie rod end nut.
    Torque: 111 lb.ft (150 Nm)

  1. Install the brake disc shield and the brake disc shield retainers.
    Torque: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

  1. Position the wheel speed sensor and install the wheel speed sensor bolt.
    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  1. Install the front wheel bearing and wheel hub.
    Refer to: Front Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub (204-01 Front Suspension, Removal and Installation).
  1. Check and if necessary adjust front camber.
    Refer to: Front Camber Adjustment (204-00 Suspension System - General Information, General Procedures).

    The tire pressure monitoring system measures pressure in your road tires and sends the tire pressure readings to your vehicle. You can view the tire pressure readings through the information display. The low tire pressure warning light will turn on if the tire pressure is significantly low. Once the light is illuminated, your tires are under-inflated and need to be inflated to the manufacturer’s recommended tire pressure. Even if the light turns on and a short time later turns off, your tire pressure still needs to be checked.
